Caffeine in Tea vs. Coffee

Tea vs. Coffee

The caffeine in tea is very different compared to that in coffee.

A cup of coffee has an average of 40mg of caffeine, while a cup of tea has an average of 11mg of caffeine.

If it's a blend with more ingredients, the caffeine content will be even lower.

How to know if yours has caffeine?

If it contains black tea, green tea, white tea, oolong, or pu-erh, it has caffeine. All of these are different types of tea, but they all come from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis.

Everything else has no caffeine: chamomile, rose petals, mint, linden, etc...

What are the effects of tea's lower caffeine content?

Coffee gives an energy "boom" that then crashes, potentially leading to headaches and exhaustion. In contrast, tea simply awakens you; it's a state of relaxed calm. That's why it's perfect for work and has been used for hundreds of years by monks for meditation.
